የኢያሱ መጽሐፍ 23፥1
The last chapters of Joshua contain Joshua’s farewell. He speaks of all God has done for the Israelites, reminding them to be strong and careful to obey the law of Moses. He tells them not to serve other gods or idols and reminds them that God will not hesitate to punish them if they turn against God. However, the choice of whom to serve was theirs:
“If serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15).
Joshua made his choice to serve God. But the other Israelites had to make their own decisions. No one can choose to follow God for another. But Joshua’s example influenced the people’s choice.
Your choice to follow Jesus can likewise be an influence on those around you to make their own choices.
Prayer Suggestion: God, I choose to follow You today.
